MAY HELEN DAHL PROMO 2010 PRO-DRIFTING

My name is May-Helen Dahl and I´m a 28 year old Norwegian. ”This girls goes sideways” all started behind the wheel of a Volvo 240 on a cold winter night in 2004. Since then, there have been houndreds of hours ”going sideways” to get where I am today.

In 2006 i bought a Nissan 200SX  and rebuilt it exactly how I wanted it. I didn´t realize until it was too late that I´d spent way too much money on it to subject it to the punishing art of ”drifting”.

So I sold the 200SX and ordered a stock 180SX from Japan. To go from novice to owning my own drift car within two years was a dream come true! may2

I took delivery of the 180SX in July 2007, spent some time customizing it, and took 3rd place in the Nordic drifting series in my first official competition in Spring of 2008. I realized that I´d found my calling and decided to dedicate myself to becoming a professional. By obtaining some corporate sponsors I was able to make the leap to ”pro”. I made some necessary improvements to my car and began competing in Powerdrift competition events in Norway.

Since turning pro in 2008 I have competed in the Nordic drifting series in Denmark, The Scandinavian Drifting Series, and most recently, in an IDS drifting competition at the Nürburgring in Germany 2009.

Since I have been fortunate enough to obtain a number of sponsors, I have been able to do a lot of show-driving. This has put me at events in front of large crowds and in the media spotlight. I love ”show-driving” as it is all the fun without the pressure and it’s given my sponsors great exposure.

In 2009, I was chosen for a segment of Norways’s answer to ”Top Gear”. The program, called ”Broom” aired on Norway’s leading commercial television station, TV2, and was seen by 500.000 viewers. I also had the amazing opportunity to drive on the ”Solberg Extreme Motor Show” in Nov 2009 in Norway.

The best memory i have is driving show drifting on Nürburgring in Germany in May 2009 before the 24 hour race, amazing track :)

In 2010 I hope to maybe try  some kind of racing in addition to my drifting and look forward to the chance to improve my driving skills and try something new (and fast!).

Of course, none of this would have been possible without my sponsors, fans and friends. I am so grateful to you all for your support. Thank you!

If you´d like to contact me about events, appearances, sponsorship or just to say hi, please contact me at post@mayhelenmotorsport.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
